On 2 November 2026 at 12:00 UTC (13:00 CET), MedEWSa and the COST Action ANTICIPATE will hold a joint webinar on multi-hazard early warning systems and on how research can better serve the people who use them. The one-hour session takes place on Zoom and is open to researchers, practitioners and anyone working in early warning and disaster risk reduction.
Why MedEWSa and ANTICIPATE are meeting
MedEWSa, the Horizon Europe project developing an impact-based multi-hazard early warning system across its pilot sites, is approaching the end of its funding period. ANTICIPATE is a pan-European network focused on extended-range, multi-hazard predictions and warnings. The webinar asks what MedEWSa’s results can offer the ANTICIPATE community, and what it would take to transfer and apply them more widely.
Programme and speakers
The session opens with a short introduction and a moderated conversation led by Jürg Luterbacher, MedEWSa coordinator. Speakers will present MedEWSa’s results, including its pilot-site experience and training materials, followed by ANTICIPATE’s view of the bottlenecks and future challenges in the field. The World Meteorological Organization Research Board will offer a global perspective on turning scientific advances into operational services. A targeted question-and-answer round closes the session.
